My career began in the public education field because I knew early on I wanted to help people. You know, coach them and make an impact. I always loved that part of my job. After a five-year run in the classroom in Kansas, an opportunity came up that altered, in a tremendous way, the path I was on.
In 2012, I moved from the public education to the corporate world where I initially worked as a proofreader. My natural ability to edit and coach catapulted me into a new role within three months of my hire date. It is through my work in that position as a digital editor that I realized I can still use my leadership and coaching expertise in the traditional 9-to-5 as well.
Since that time, I moved to Michigan and started a small freelance writing and editing business, Italics Freelance. This business has led me to opportunities that are truly exciting. I create website copy, resumes, product packaging, catalog descriptions, blogs, SEO copy, edit manuscripts, and have even been asked to present my business to high school classes. What an honor that was!
My teaching experience has truly helped me hone my skills as a high-quality writer, editor, and stickler for details. I know how to manage time and several projects at once.
