Product Design BA Industrial and Product Design
University of Derby
2010 - 2015
A fully defined course that provides sound basis in theoretical design principles, such as design ethics, designing for manufacture, ergonomic principles and CAD design.
Other key modes of study included Furniture design, communication in design and design project conception. A key thread throughout the course has been an awareness for designing products with the intent for production. This has been supported by the study of engineering and production drawings, rapid prototypes and testing a hypothesis at each level.
The variety of design briefs have allowed me to extend my skills to all areas of product design, such as consumer products, home-ware Items, transport design and industrial design.
The study of design management, design innovation and industry practice has allowed me to place a real world context and understanding to each of the modules and points of study within the course.
