Inspiration Board
Needed a new LAST for the project as there was a specific toe recede we were going for. Began ideating on outsole designs after being handed the requested tooling sidewall design. The idea was to expand on the UGG brands' DNA with the Classic outsole pattern, fuse it with a Spring style, to now inform the new design. I ended up having to work by candlelight during a power outage (using what little battery I had left) to draw the outsole in Illustrator under tight deadlines.
Tooling Techpack was done over the weekend to ensure we stayed on target for deadlines. As this was slated to be a dual gender style a W's size 7 was chosen as the starting point to then grade up to M's size 9.
All cross sections were meticulously done leaving no guess work for the factory.
3D Model of the tooling was made for seasonal sales meeting to discuss the features and benefits.
Sketching Upper exploration which led to eventually discarding the 80s moon boot path in favor of a more Classic Ugg twin seam focus and style.
Upper Techpack indicating all desired measurements with the main challenge including an angled "natural" looking lean to the collar and shaft. The idea was to have the boot look intuitively comfortable.
Heritage Pull-on TrailGazer: These winter-ready boots are crafted with a waterproof, full-grain leather upper that's been seam sealed for added protection from the elements. Inside you'll find a soft UGGplush blend and a genuine sheepskin collar lining. The outsole has White Spider Rubber for enhanced traction. Rated to keep you warm in temps as low as -20ºC.
