Alda Tomás graduated in Product Design in the School of Fine Arts of Lisbon, Portugal, and attended the parallel course of Piano at the National Conservatory of Lisbon.
She began by designing for glass industry in Mglass and Jasmim company, but the porcelain has become her material of choice. She started working for this industry in SPAL, but currently works in Vista Alegre Atlantis company. Here, she makes the development of new products, coordinates the Design team of Vista Alegre group and she also coordinates the artistic residence IDPool.
She was one of the designers chosen to participate in the project Remade in Portugal, which from 2007 until 2012 has developed an annual range of products of Eco-Design. During the visit of the kings of Sweden to Portugal one of these works was selected to be part of the offers from the Portuguese state. At the Expo Zaragoza 2009, it was also one of the offers given by the Portuguese government to the Spanish government. These eco design works were also exhibited in ExpoShanghai 2010.
For three consecutive years, she developed the trophy for the 7 Portuguese Wonders.
In 2009, she was awarded with a Special Mention for her course in SPAL at the National Design Competition, Award Sena da Silva.
Triadic, Lavish, Poison and Utopia, which works she has developed at Vista Alegre, have already been awarded with international awards, namely four German Design Award Nominée, three Good Design Award Chicago and one Red Dot.
