Diploma Project
Outreach Programmes, National Institute of Design
Apr 2010 - Sep 2010 (5 months)
My diploma project was to develop a felicitation item preferably in handcrafted textiles or a product mix of different items/craft to represent Indian culture and heritage as well as to create a brand image of handicraft items. The project was given to NID by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts). I studied the older and the existing felicitation products like shawl and angavastra (shoulder cloth), its social and cultural relevance, symbolic value, origin etc and then looked into possibilities of alternate usage of the products extending beyond felicitation to retain the value of the textile.
