My purpose is to create a dialogue with the viewer, it isn’t always intentional, sometimes I sort things out mentally by creating artwork and realize that I’m making a statement or simply posing a question. Other times I want to express a feeling or emotion, and sometimes I just want to make something pretty. The most honest and effective way for me to communicate is through art, whether drawing painting or playing music, I have discovered it to be the purest form of communication for me.
I use imagery, patterns, and symbols from a variety of sources, as well as come up with my own. I’m fascinated by symbolism and the way each person interprets them. I enjoy using them as a tool the same way you would use a brush or a hammer. I try to let my process and materials reflect the particular piece. I want the work to be reinforced by the way it was made.
I am inspired by classical fine art as well as contemporary, “low brow”, and pop art. Love, science, technology, mythology, nature and the human condition are some of the most common themes of my work . My influences range from Gustave Moreau and Rembrandt, to Alex Grey and Robert Williams. My influences are my own life and my environment, I don’t presume to know how to make a personal statement with art about anything else.
