This may sound a bit silly, but I truly believe good design makes the world a better place. How, you ask? Well, I think the average person underestimates the effect that the quality of design has on their daily lives. If you're stuck in traffic, a poorly conceived billboard can mean the difference between road-rage and a wistful smile. A TV ad can mean the difference between flipping the channel in fear of a rapid drop in one's IQ and a rosy outlook concerning the next hour's programming. An impeccable typeface amid sundry deplorable signage can mean the difference between a curious motorist abandoning a certain part of the city forever and the beginning of a beautiful friendship with the cacophony of downtown. So yes, good design makes the world a better place.
