The prompt for this project asked for a set of tabletop condiment dispensers that embodied the following themes: Collision of form, a family/brand relationship, and allowances that indicated how each item was used. I chose to make a Soy Sauce pourer and a pepper grinder.
Inspired by birds, I chose a very geometric form. The fillet on the Soy Sauce vessel indicates where the user can grasp the pourer, while the beak indicates which direction to tip. The curved beak of the pepper grinder, and the attached crank handle show how to twist and grind pepper.
A project that started with a series of exploratory sketches and foam form studies, before being finished in high density foam and primer to achieve a plastic-lookalike model.
