River Island - Final Major Project
University of Salford
Nov 2011 - May 2012 (6 months)
o Investigation into the stock handling processes within River Island with the focus being on the Delivery Stage within Store. Research was Human Centered, with methods of Primary Research (IDEO research methods) including fly on the wall, photo ethnography, interviews and focus groups with River Island staff.
o Key aspects in the stock handling process were then compared against the River Island Best Stand Practice (Companies Delivery Expectations), where issues were easily identified and a detailed Design Brief could be produced.
o Concepts were generated off the back of the design brief, with a concept being meticulously carried through the development stages taking all aspects of semantics, semiotics and user interaction into consideration.
o The final design was then realised through CAD modeling (Solidworks and Photoworks) with the security tag being designed to be produced out of polypropylene in an 8 cavity twin shot injection mould.
o The security tag project was displayed at the New Designers 2012 show in London and received a great deal of attention from Industrial Professionals and River Island Executives due to its commercial nature, and time and cost saving qualities.

Moorehouse's Brewery - Portable Beer Festival Bar
University of Salford
Jan 2011 - Mar 2011 (2 months)
o Moorhouse’s Brewery needed a new portable bar designing for use at beer festivals, which needed to be lightweight and easy to assemble and disassemble. The bar was to have area for stillage of two barrels of beer and have room for at least two Angram beer taps.
o After visiting the Brewery and analysing the current bar used by the brewery, the generation of concepts began, where one of the concepts was further developed.
o A lot of focus in this project was on the POP and POS. The design was developed so that the base of the bar could be transported ahead of the top half of the bar to the festival location ahead of the event. This allowed time for the beer to be in its stillage for the correct amount of time.
