Sergio is a designer and product developer with 17 years of professional experience. He was formally trained as an Industrial Designer, but crossed over into the world of Interaction Design and User Experience 8 years ago.
His professional design experiences extend to a variety of industries including retail/exhibit design, consumer products, commercial and home furnishings, industrial equipment as well as enterprise, embedded and mobile software experiences.
The common thread throughout his work to date is the focus on user centered design:
• Who is the user?
• What is the job to be done?
• In what context are they working in?
His early college career at Rochester Institute of Technology included two years of Computer Engineering education prior to obtaining a BFA in Industrial Design. That experience makes him uniquely qualified for the task of developing delightful digital product experiences by giving him a deeper technical understanding of the problems he solves and is able to interact with developers in a more effective manner.
Sergio has been very inspired by innovation subject matter experts such as Clayton Christensen and understands the importance of innovation, be it sustaining or disruptive to the long term health of a corporation.
Sergio has also spent significant time living abroad in Brazil and the Netherlands, which gives him a unique perspective on life and his work.
Products designed for Bush Industries and Werner Ladder have been featured in Consumer's Digest and Popular Science and on weblogs such as Gizmodo.com.
