Graduate Design Engineer
Fast Engineering Ltd
Feb 2011 - Aug 2011 (6 months)
I worked here through the GAP NI scheme from 21st Feb 2011 until the 19th Aug 2011. I was involved in many projects such as the redesign of a central spider connector for a roof cover support, which is used for their tanks. The current spider connector is made in-house and consists of several parts. My aim was to make this a one piece component which can be bought in and will save costs on labour. I had also been tasked with researching structural adhesives and their suitability for the manufacturing process, as well as designing new stock shelving for the warehouse (creating a BOM and constructing once the materials arrive), I sourced suppliers of solid rivets from China and also designed a custom hazard warning label for a new product and sourced label suppliers.
