Kelsey Hibberd

My name’s Kelsey. I’m 20 years old and live in a small town near Southend in Essex.

I have always been a very eccentric and passionate person and I am highly analytical, therefore generating many ideas, thoughts, and opinions about the world we live in.

I have no official qualifications in advertising or marketing as of yet, but I’ve had very strong views on them from an early age, and have always found the industry of promotion the most interesting because it combines my two interests/loves/passions: Creativity and Psychology.

Advertising is one of, if not the most powerful legal force in the world.

I say it as a statement because I truly believe it to be a fact and not just mere opinion.

I am also an active campaigner for Stonewall, as well as working with loads of other local, national and global charities and fantastic organisations such as the YMCA, Y-Care, Local County Councils/Youth Councils, Stop the Hate (Essex Police Panels), Difference and Diversity Panels and more. I have also created my own local organisation for young people and those who work with them, which focuses on sexuality and gender identity, and ‘educating out’ the issues that come with being in those communities.

Needless to say I am extremely passionate about putting the world to rights. Which often brings about the question of-

“Kelsey, why do you want to get into advertising?”

It's no secret that advertising is a very controversial industry. But i’m a big dreamer. And for me, ads and ethics can pretty much go hand in hand.

It’s known that advertising can influence almost any person, but what about a person influencing advertising?

I’m by no means an expert, this is essentially just 'brain vomit'. I welcome any further insight in the form of comments on what I’ve created. Background information about a campaign, advice from someone who has more experience or qualifications, or even just your own person thoughts and interpretations; Facts and opinions both have their place in the world, it’s up to the individual what to do with them.
