I am an alumna from Virginia Commonwealth University that has received my Bachelor's Degree in the Fashion Design+Merchandising Department. As a recent graduate, I have acquired many skill sets and gained fruitful experiences that are effective and useful in the workplace. Therefore, it pleases me to briefly share who I am as a designer and the potentials I will bring to this position if considered for this job opportunity.
I am a first generation Nigerian-American designer based in North Brunswick, NJ. Key words to describe my design aesthetic are Luxe, Eclectic, and Afrocentric. I've drawn inspiration for my work from the vibrant art, culture and traditions that I've been brought up in. The matriarchal figures in my life all know how to sew and construct. These women have played a role in teaching me basic viable techniques in apparel and print design that eventually led me to the path that I have chosen. I use these pivotal instances in my life to inspire me to design womenswear that exudes confidence, self love, and inclusion.
As a young adult aspiring for employment in the industry, starting with the basics, I can perform techniques such as pattern-making, sewing, draping, illustration, concept development, and prototyping. I am able to demonstrate my proficiency of adobe programs such as Photoshop and Indesign, along with creating detailed flats on Adobe Illustrator. In addition, I am experienced with the latest design software CLO 3D and familiar with garment techpacks. During my enrollment, I have designed evening wear and sportswear garments accompanied with handbags along with other accessories.
I believe I can add lucrative qualities to your team. I am a critical thinker, team player, and incredibly adaptable in the workplace. Therefore, I believe I am qualified fit for your company.
Thank you for your consideration,
