There are two things that excite me most about designing. The first is to make things possible that were not possible before - even if it’s in a small way. The second - without which, for me, the first is not complete - is to give these innovations a shape that is just right: making them usable, understandable, and giving them the right emotional context.
I operate through my design studio, Michiel Cornelissen Ontwerp, where I combine work for clients such as Philips Design, Lorenz and Soonsalon with the creation of my own range of products, including furniture, jewelry, homewares and electronics accessories.
My products have been featured in magazines and on blogs like Gizmodo, Wired, Designboom, Core77 and NotCot. Several of my designs have been recognised with awards, including IF and Red Dot. A selection is available in stores - including the New York and Japan MoMA, and Centre Pompidou in Paris.
