Hello!
Thanks for checking out my work! I currently work full time for Formula boats as a design lead, training under their head designer. Additionally I am working on a few sports car and race car projects because I enjoy it so let me know what you are working on! I have a number of connections in the product design world, freelancers and design groups that I have worked with before which I am excited to recommend if that is of any help, shoot me a note.
Experience:
- 7 years working as part of a team at a consulting firm with companies like: DirtDevil and Hoover Vacuums, Fischer Price, Power Wheels, and many others.
- 5 years+ working as a private consultant with 20+ clients: two of the largest tool and home improvement brands in the US, Razor Scooters USA, Airhogs, Jim Glickenhaus at SCG, Rush Auto Works, Pro-Models RC, Modari toys, FastForward Composites.
- Experience with individual inventors: helping to visualize their ideas, create compelling marketing images, and provide data ready to communicate to manufacturers for quotes.
I can start with sketching concepts, CAD model designs to accurate dimensions, create realistic environmental renderings, create 3D printed and machined prototypes, and go all the way to providing quality data for engineers and manufacturing resources.
I have operated mainly as a designer, but I have an amount of experience working as a mechanical engineer as well. Two of the large tool brands that I freelanced for used me as their invention specialist. Their marketing and development group would come to me with ideas for products, I would design and engineer it, apply their branding identity, and then deliver real life working prototypes to them showing manufacturing details and functions for them to present to upper leadership. I have experience engineering very complex products with many parts, but typically look to a trained mechanical engineer to review my work and create a drawing package to communicate with factories.
In the automotive world, I have experience designing exterior styling for cars but also taking a very holistic approach to designing and thinking through the entire car. I can plan out everything from drive train and suspension, to occupant packaging, proper chassis and roll protection and basic aerodynamics. I typically explain it as: I can design the entire car up to about 85%, and then it gets handed to engineers who work out the last and very invaluable 15%. There will need to be someone to design and create the specifics of the suspension, create a carbon fiber tub if needed, plan for stress in the chassis, and generally work out the fabrication details etc. I just try to think through everything first so that in the end, the exterior style and plan of the car will end up looking as planned when the car is built and rolling on the road.
Depending on the needs of the client, I have created mold data and planned out the entire assembly and fastening strategy for all the body panels on a car. It is typical for me to work around a provided chassis structure, but I have designed crash structures and subframes, removable front clips, roll cages and more simpler tubular or aluminum tub structures.
Thanks again for checking out my work and have a good day! This selection of work only represents about 5% of the work I have done I would guess! Some of my best work is locked up under NDA's as most designers experience : ) If you are looking for specific experience history ask me and I can discuss specific projects.
