I have a degree in industrial design from the University of South Australia. Although my degree is in industrial design, my job experience is marketing and graphic design. As you will be able to tell from my resume, I've worn a lot of different hats at my positions with Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR). FFR works directly with the US Navy to facilitate all on base activities, off base tours, and the mental health and wellness programs provided to the military.
In my past graphic design/marketing position with FFR in Japan, I designed, both printed and digital material for a plethora of restaurants, sports and fitness groups, tours, movie theatres, live entertainment (i.e., Sesame Street, Macy Gray, etc.), and also created and executed marketing campaigns for large community events (attended by 20,000 people). With the diversity of associations/commands I’ve collaborated with in my graphic design work, I’ve definitely grown to understand the needs of a multitude of clients in both project design and inter-office communication.
After 2 years of graphic design work I was promoted to my current position. My title is Marketing Manager for Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. In this position, I oversee all marketing and public relations for FFR and all associated subsidiaries. This role takes on many aspects, from new personnel briefings, to social media marketing and information dispersal, and even facilitating the design of all the advertising campaigns for the various entities on base.
