My name is Maudy, I was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala, where I lived for eighteen years. I am the third child, and I have two sisters, Alba and Gilsa.
As a child I was taught that my future had no limits, and that I could become whatever I dreamed of as long I worked hard to get where I wanted to go. My parents were strict and always pushed me and my sisters to never give up and to always do our best. I thank god for their insight.
My interest in Interior Design started early, I spend many hours helping my mom rearranging the furniture of the house, picking new fabrics to reupholster our furniture and window treatments.
In my school years I always did well on Arts & Crafts, they were my passion. At the age of fifteen I started studying Mechanical Drafting & Interior Design, that is when I knew I had found my calling. Then, at the age of eighteen I decide to move to Miami, Florida to pursue my profession. When I came to Florida I realized I had to learn English although I was able to understand everything I was unable to speak. I went to ESOL classes for three years. In Winter 2009 I joined The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. One of the best decisions I have made in my life.
At school, I'm the president of ASID Student Chapter, Orientation Leader of the Interior Design department; I'm also involved with Club Rush, SGA Student Government Association, and all the activities our chapter holds.
I dedicate countless hours to every project or event our chapter holds; I do this while attending school full-time and holding a full-time job. My goal is to give a great example and to inspire my peers on becoming the creative professional of tomorrow.
My next goals are to become LEED Certificate and to become a Licensed Interior Designer and on the future I see myself with my own firm making my clients dreams come true with style and elegance.
