The History Department at my university wanted to reassess some of their offices and create a better design for the faculty and students who use the space. They are dissatisfied with the current state of the offices and sought professional help from my department and my professors recommended me for the job. After a meeting with the head of the History department I began coming up with solutions to their current problems and ways to meet more of their needs. I also determined having another student generating ideas with me would give a better end result, so I enlisted a colleague to work on the project with me.I have constructed a full work schedule for the project and shared this with my colleague.Right now I have finished drawing new AutoCAD plans for the current layout, a demolition plan, and now we will begin doing space plans and start narrowing down an aesthetic direction.

I was tasked with assembling a design team of my peers and coordinating the research, catalog of repairs, and facilitation of repairs of a historic Federal style home now being used for an office building. I drew new AutoCAD plans of the structure and used them to mark where repairs needed to be done. We have started researching contractors to bid on the project as well as give a budget estimate. From there I and another colleague will write grant proposals to keep the historic home structurally and aesthetically sound.
