My most important role in this internship was to design a quarterly community magazine called the Community Concierge. This project is wonderful experience because ultimately, it interested people in their community even after picking the magazine up in the most uninteresting of places (a dentists office, for example). What I valued most in this role was how to work within client guidelines to satisfy their beginning/middle/end expectations. I used Adobe CS to design mail pieces, brochures, catalogs, web banners all in a Mac environment. Eventually, I incorporated a website that would showcase every new edition of the magazine as well as every past issue.

My most important role in this internship was to not only learn the digital advertisements printed on a micro/macro scale, but also create them efficiently for printing. I used Adobe Creative InDesign and others to design posters, food menus, catalogs, flyers, invitations, and brochures. With the printers in-house, I could see my work made before my eyes and learned from any mistakes made along the way. The most value of this internship was in gaining extensive knowledge of prepress and the terminology related to printing.
