Many call me, Mal. I am a first generation of Sri Lankan ethnicity, born and raised in New Jersey. I began my college career as an ocean engineer, but realized there was no creative outlet and Industrial Design followed afterwards. I find much of my inspiration through my travels and the ocean, since my severe case of the travel bug usually leads me towards the closest body of water. Over the years and thousand of miles I drive to cure the bug, I have come to realize that my traveling has benefited me greatly. The experiences and seeing first hand how people all over the world live their lives, has given me the fascination, appreciation and sensitivity for people and materials to create a real impact through design.
