Sophomore: Raleigh Lake Retreat

The first full architecture project, from the fall of my Sophomore year. The site was on our extended campus (at Lake Raleigh), and the project was to create a retreat/guest house/lecture space for visiting professionals. I was assigned Writers/English lecturers.

My final concept was based off of the components of the standard story- exposition, climax, resolution. This was expressed across the ground plane and in the elevation of the building.

This was also the first time I used Sketchup for a project. Final submissions included hand drawings, wooden concept models, and a scale model.

Looking at this project now, there is so much I would have done differently, both with the execution and the way I handled and thought about the assignment. I also included shots of some practice/experimental models, because for many of them, I see a much stronger potential project.
