Junior: Design College Expansion

Junior Year, second semester. This group project was a collaboration with Taylor Belge.

Our prompt was to design and extension of our Design School in an adjacent spot to our existing campus. Part of our focus in this project was the connection to the existing campus and to the rest of the school. Thus our design was centered around the Bridge, that acts as both a visual focus and a physical link to unite the different components.

Our design also focused on logical circulation, daylighting techniques, creating pleasant interior and exterior spaces, and the shared courtyard space. This project was also in a masonry competition, so our design features ceramic sunshading devices, and ceramic cladding on the exterior that was optimized for heat reduction, weather resistance, and temperature control. The hand-drawn wall section showcases the masonry cladding system. We also planned out a basic HVAC system, to reflect what we were learning in a congruent building systems class.
