Groovy Girls
Manhatten Toy Company of Minneapolis, MN sponsored our class of industrial design students at the University of Wisconsin-Stout to generate innovative and fun concepts for their "Groovy Girls" brand of soft dolls. Our challenge was to create concepts that would capture the interest and imagination of little girls ages 3-9 years old while maintaining the brand's emphasis on funky fashion, personal expression, and wholesome fun. I presented several different lines of Groovy Girls each with a different emphasis and appeal. The Groovy Smoothie Girl was created to get little girls interested in fruit and healthy eating, as well as appeal to their sense of smell. The "Travel Buddy" doll and accessories were designed to help little girls travel by being a fun companion and provide hours of roll-playing during long plane/car rides. The "Groovy Girls Around the World" line was designed to foster an interest and appreciation for cultures around the world - especially in fashion!
