I studied fashion design at Parsons School of Design and my business acumen consists of design, product development and design management.
My career began designing stripe and print patterns as an assistant designer in mens knitwear for Nautica and as an associate textile designer designing color and print stories for companies including Ralph Lauren. I created palettes and selected patterns and prints from an antique swatch library, disected the weaves and redesigned the patterns construction, weave and color.
Soon I was working at Ralph Lauren in design of mens woven shirtings from initial conception to final approval. I shopped stores for current trends, met with print vendors, and sent technical specs of fabrics and garments to mills and manufacturers in Europe and Asia. I measured and fit sample garments and approved woven and printed fabric samples to ensured timely manufacturing.
After Ralph Lauren I freelanced for Robert Stock in mens woven and knit shirting design.
I then moved to Los Angeles to work in design, development and styling of clothing for television shows, films, commercials and print ads. As part of a design team I researched trends and period looks and sourced ready to wear designers and fashion PR firms. I shopped stores for contemporary and vintage clothing and for fabrics for construction of garments and managed construction by tailors. I sourced fabric dying, printing and graphic vendors, and conducted fittings and communicated al alterations to seamstresses. I finalized design approvals in an ever-changing production schedule.
My work experiences have vastly broadened my conceptional and design skills and my knowledge of textile and garment development from initial concept to manufacturing. I have acquired extremely strong organizational, communication and problem solving skills and can manage support of a design team in a high end and extremely busy environment. I have worked in team settings and managed multiple people.
