In my 4 years with Murray Label I was solely responsible for the day to day operation of the prepress department. I completely reorganized the department, moving it from an analog to a digital process. Responsibilities included oversight of purchase, installation and implementation of the Esko CDI and Cyrel Fast Technologies. * Converted customer art to printable format. * Prepared spot and 4 color digital files for output to Esko Flex RIP. * Answered telephone inquiries regarding status update on proofs, jobs and shipping information. * Prepared and issued all purchase orders, verbally and electronically ordered supplies from manufacturer, identified and selected potential sources of supplies, resolved purchase order differences, product quality and payment problems with suppliers. * Worked directly with the production supervisor to go over jobs and identify any possible printing problems prior to press dates. * Scheduled and manufactured plates using Esko CDI to ensure they were ready at press time. Responsible for all art production for 2 label manufacturing companies (Hot Stamp & Flexographic printing). Proficient in Mac programs: Illustrator, Quark, Photoshop and Acrobat. Consulted with customers and sales staff on design of labels. Constructed art proofs, negatives, printing plates and did on press quality control. Also, worked with vendors and ordered all supplies necessary for completing jobs.

Designed art and proofs from salesman sketches, blueprints and customer layouts to produce final mechanicals for all labeling jobs. Responsible for all camera work, typesetting and ordering any materials required to com- plete the job. Also responsible for making photopolymer flexo plates and plates for rotary letterpress printing. Ran art department in absence of art director. This included: job scheduling, ordering supplies and interfacing with sales and production personnel.
