Kenneth J Perkins

I am a graduate of the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Mi. (2008)

I am currently a Senior Designer at Geneva Watch Group. I am responsible for the direction of Tommy Bahama, Sperry Top-sider and C9 By Champion. In my first year at Geneva Watch Group I developed and executed a complete ground up relaunch of the Tommy Bahama watch category. With full autonomy of the design and development process I have addressed key issues and implemented strategies to grow the business. 54 new designs hit the market in Fall of 2014. The Re-Launch was a great success with overall business ending the fiscal year up for those months at 40% to LY.

Because of the success of the Tommy Bahama re-launch I was then given the opportunity to relaunch two other brands, C9 by Champion and Sperry Top-Sider. With the re-launch of each brand I am responsible for all design direction and work with a small team of designers and brand managers and work cross functionally. During the re-launch we work cross-functionally to conduct extensive market research, consumer testing and lay the ground work for my design strategy.

Specialties: I have to say my strongest attribute is my personality coupled with my creative thought. I spend each day constantly thinking, evolving and challenging myself and current designs to be better. I have an acute eye for my surroundings. I use my experiences to spark my creativity. Artistically, I have great hand sketching skills as well as physical model making skills that translate directly to my computer skills, in programs like Solidworks, Alias, Rhino and Keyshot.

My goals are to continue to broaden my skill set over a wide range of design disciplines, progressing each day. I am currently freelancing and leading a start up design company called Brigade, I am designing an entire line of men's jewelry from the ground up that includes, branding, product sketching, display design and all aspects of design. The product will hit over 2000 doors in the fall of 2015. My long term goals are to get my company CreativeDNA up and functioning. A company that will base most of its design around Eco-friendly products that not only are manufactured and designed to be more sustainable but in many ways actively give back and thus go beyond having a small carbon footprint.
