For this project I had to design a coffee table book with graphic design or illustration as my main theme.
In this project I was inspired by the art of the Surrealists. One of the artists that inspired me was Salvador Dali. He created art by using a technique called psychic automatism. This is a technique where you would look at an image and write down or paint al the thing that would come up in your mind/thoughts.
I applied this technique to my project by asking people that I know to have a look at an image that I showed them. I wrote down all the ideas that came to them and designed spreads for my book with these ideas. I used the first word that came up in their minds as a starting point to create each design.
