A product in itself has no meaning. It is the user that assigns a value to it. A product may seem useful and/or beautiful according to its designer. But what is a product worth if it does not fulfill the (intended) user’s needs?
As a designer I like to design products for and with the user. You can always try to empathize with a person, but you will never be that person. I like to see the user as the expert by experience who I like to let him/her share his/her knowledge with me and by whom I like to get inspired.
Through the years I developed a special interest – I like to call it my passion – in designing products for healthcare. During my life I have seen many diseases among my loved ones. Due to these experiences I gained a lot of appreciation for healthcare professionals.
In my opinion improving healthcare is something we, the whole society, can do together. Designing products for healthcare is my way, as an industrial design engineer, to contribute to innovation in healthcare and thereby to the quality of a person’s life.
