Re-Design Project Manager
Comfort Products Pvt. Ltd.
May 2013 - Jun 2013 (1 month)
Comfort Products is launching into the international appliance market with an innovative beverage cooler. A colleague and I were tasked with designing and finalizing Version 2 of the product in question. This project spanned a total of six weeks where the final four were spent with their entire team in Mumbai, working alongside them and the current product undergoing testing.
The project was broken down as follows:
-1 week analysis of the European market and trends
. Understanding the beverage market scope in target European markets
. Analyzing current market trends in terms of appliance CMF
. Detailing out user personas which could be communicated to the in-house team
. Studying the current product and it's architecture/components
-1 week creativity session to come up with four concepts
. Proposal of four concepts adhering to the user personas defined in the analysis. We went so far as to challenge the architecture of the product as well, to broaden the scope of product placement and usage scenarios
-The remaining time dedicated to finalizing and refining the chosen concept
. A final direction was chosen with the company, using one concept proposal as a base and then incorporating several design elements from the other proposals
. Worked on a final 3D model with full detailing, effectively blurring the line between design and engineering
. Interacted in person with plastic experts, mold makers and the in-house engineers and electronic circuit developers in order to enhance the feasibility of the final proposal
. A full communication strategy was also developed within this time frame. Packaging, a user manual, exhibition poster, pamphlet. and a wine guide booklet were also created.
. The final 3D was handed over with a set of guidelines developed for the engineer and mold makers to ensure that the design stays true while still ensuring mass production possibilities
Further work on this project is due to commence once the current version hits the European market
