While I've never turned this project into a full-fledged game, I've been keeping it on the back burner because I love the concept. It's a fairly bare-bones space shooter on the surface, but I spent a lot of time on the back-end systems. Using music files from your own library, your playthroughs will vary based on the type of music and the tempo. The background layers and enemies react dynamically to the beat, and a special synergy bonus is gained for firing rhythmically as well. I created all of the art in this game from scratch (aside from the skybox), even trying my hand at some 3D modeling in Blender for the main ship and some of the enemies.
In ZXZ, each of my niblings had their own special power that was needed to gain access to some of the Lego pieces. This nephew had to dance near these radios found throughout the house as they were playing.
When you finally collect all 30 Legos and build your portal home, you are rewarded with this cool sequence. I used Unity's newish Timeline feature to create it and sync up all the sound and animations. That is me (pixelized) in the credits ;)
In addition to the core gameplay, I included some mini-game style hidden areas that utilize Unity physics and some fun particle systems. This room is only accessible as my niece's character, who can shrink. It uses the same starfield particles I created for Beat Blaster as a backdrop, and contains two particle systems attached to rigidbodies that can be kicked around by the player.

Other Projects

Here are some snippets of other projects I've worked on:

Beat Blaster - A retro space-shooter with backgrounds and enemies that react dynamically the music track.

Project ZXZ - A Christmas present I created for my nephews and niece. In this tablet app they get to play as themselves, collecting Legos in a top-down replica of their actual house.
I built this game from scratch in Unity, and deployed it to a Kindle (hence the little finger control you see pop up in some videos). All particle effects and animations are my own, however most of the tileset graphics and some of the music are copyrighted material that I do not own.
