Undergraduate Researcher
Mechatronics Research Laboratory (MIT) - In-Pipe Leak Detecting Robot
Sep 2013 - Present (11 years 2 months)
•Optimizing the robot for underwater use by prototyping hydrodynamic designs, designing it to withstand high pressure environments, and sealing electronic components to prevent water damage
•Researching materials and conducting experiments in order to waterproof force sensors, allowing the robot to identify changes In pressure underwater
•Detecting leaks quickly and cost effectively, this robot will have large economic and environmental impacts.

Engineering Design Intern
New Valence Robotics
Jan 2014 - Jan 2014
•Developed education specific 3D printable content using SolidWorks
•Acquired an understanding of additive manufacturing as well as how a 3D printer is designed and fabricated
•Requiring minimal user interference, the 3D printer that New Valence Robotics is developing will simplify the 3D printing process and improve STEM education
-
Instructor/Camp Developer/Product Designer
Robotech Center
Jun 2013 - Aug 2013 (2 months)
•Facilitated 4 different educational programs instructing classes of 18 to 25 children, grades 3-9, on the basics of coding, robotics, and Arduino while overseeing 2-3 teaching assistants
•Developed and organized the purchase of materials for 2 different camps designed to teach children the basics of engineering through interactive projects, such as building and programming a remote control car, designing hovercrafts, and creating solar powered phone chargers
•Influenced the design of a programmable remote control car that RoboTech plans to market as an educational toy
-
Undergraduate Researcher
Man Vehicle Laboratory (MIT) - Short Radius Human Centrifuge
Jan 2013 - May 2013 (4 months)
•Researched materials and parts and communicated with manufacturers via phone and email to evaluate if various blood pressure monitors and force sensors met our needs
•Showcased technical mastery of modeling, designing, and machining through fabrication of the centrifuge
•Preventing the negative physiological effects of microgravity in astronauts, the centrifuge has potential to make a large impact on space travel; however, it needs to undergo more tests before it can be implemented
-
Undergraduate Researcher
Space Systems Laboratory (MIT) - REXIS
Sep 2012 - Dec 2012 (3 months)
•Designed, soldered, and tested 2 PCB interface boards using Altium Designer Software
•Communicated with manufacturers through the process of ordering PCB boards
•Launching on a 2016 NASA mission, REXIS will measure the mineral content of asteroid 1999
