My name is Amanda and I am a recent grad from the Internation Academy of Design and Technology (IADT) with my Associates of arts in Graphic Design. I have just a small balance left w/IADT which upon completeion of payment I will start with the B.S. program. One thing in the design industry I will NEVER understand, is the fact that in order to hire into an entry level position one must first have 3-5 yrs experience in the field, and also obtain a BS degree or can ahve the equivalenet in experience which Im guessing then your experience is doubled(?) Well, for someone like myself who is continuing education to obtain that BS degree, just in between at the moment, but would still like to gain that professional experience, cannot because I do not qualify for an entry level position due to lack of experience when my qualifications are MORE than what a company is even asking for. I just lack the experience and a piece of paper that says bachlors instead of Associates. I just think companies are afraid to take that chance at hiring someone as fresh and new as I am. When in fact, thats their downfall though my skills may be a bit green, my ideas are fresh and unique. They are young and mainstream to keep up with the liquid society we now live in. I can communicate on many different levels, which makes me a great team player, or I can also work individually. I pay attention to the smallest detail so that my design is clean, and pleasing to the eye because I take pride in my creations, I'm always learning something new, but most of all on a daily basis I make sure I am working on my people skills because one day, this sklii will only benefit my employer and my clients.
