For over 25 years, Haym Gross has provided design services to realize visions for complex, diverse projects of varied scale. Working primarily in and around New York City on such endeavors as a new condominium building in Chelsea or a Bowery cellar wine bar, Haym has also played key design roles in completing a movie star’s Mediterranean style Mississippi home and the lobby of an exclusive Miami residential tower.
Attaining the clearest artistic and functional composition for each unique project has been Haym’s emphasis throughout his career. For large planning efforts such as the Riverside Park South Conceptual Design and the Port Liberte' Townhouses, Haym has resolved the demands of disparate constraints, addressing daunting programmatic goals and intense aesthetic scrutiny. With a many architectural and interior design projects for a range of occupancies, Haym has successfully crafted solutions which adhere to his clients' objectives.
When the project calls for sculpting a defined shape or divining the true quality of a space Haym’s work has been well served by his background as an artist. He brings a synthesis of design skill and invention to each job. Haym has personal, experience in renovating historic townhouses, having rebuilt a brownstone and a Federal-era residence in Manhattan. He has served as designer and Architect of Record for many projects which required both creativity and assertiveness toward zoning regulations and building codes.
Sustainability has long been at the center of Haym Gross’ work. Working with Joseph R. Simons, R.A., Haym produced a modernist passive solar house in Bedford, NY and a triplex loft dwelling in the Gansevoort Market with a solar penthouse. Haym has produced sustainable designs for residential and hotel projects, integrating renewable energy technology into the design of buildings, structures and environments. He has hosted solar salon NYC, a quarterly gathering of sustainability practitioners and advocates, committed to advancing renewable energy through cultural change.
Haym is Founding Member of the NYC 2030 District, a private/public partnership of stakeholders working collaboratively to confront climate change on an urban scale. NYC 2030 District is developing a sustainability district in Downtown Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan.
