Club President
Team Derby Badminton
Sep 2012 - Present (12 years 3 months)
My main hobby is playing badminton which led me to become the president of the University of Derby club and to also represent my county in badminton. Over the last two years me and the committee of the badminton club have improved it tremendously through acquiring an Olympic level coach, increasing membership numbers creating one of the most popular clubs at the university and also obtaining performance sports status which only three sports clubs have. All this also helped the teams to attain their highest league rankings since the establishment of the club. I also pioneered the introduction of men’s 2nd team to the club and also helped to create a women’s 1st team which greatly improved participation in the sport at the university. Over the two years of me being on the committee we have received the award for most improved club , been nominated for most charitable club and myself being nominated for club president of the year.
