Bamboo Forest is a collection of 8 pieces of furniture and lighting made in bamboo and glass. The project aims to update traditional bamboo crafts from japan in order to improve the properties of bamboo poles and widen the possibilities for this material.
The project was developed in collaboration with Yokoyama and Windsor Workshop. Yokoyama is one of the top bamboo suppliers in Japan, they not only provided the bamboo, but gave us a very interesting insight on their traditional techniques. Windsor Workshop is one of the most prestigious workshops in the UK, and we had the honor to work with them side by side to build the prototypes that were exhibited at Milano´s Salone Satellite.
My tasks in this project were:
- Sketching , 3D-modeling, and rendering of first proposals
- Research and Prototyping with bamboo, resins, metals and suppliers
- Ergonomic and function analysis of prototypes
- Design and assembly of all internal circuitry for the lighting
