I was involved with all aspects of the design process, which very much included the art of listening to the client. Representing Iron Gate Graphics included a lot of networking, and so I was active in the community. At that time, I was a member of the Greater Frederick Advertising Federation, now known as AAF-Greater Frederick, The Women's Professional Business Network, called Pro-net, attended Frederick County Chamber of Commerce events, and served on numerous advisory boards for non-profit organizations in the county.

The Job Shop, part of the FNP (Frederick News Post) suite of communications businesses was, at the time I was there, a subsidiary of the Great Southern Printing and Manufacturing Company. It had a long and established place in Frederick County history as a printing firm catering to local businesses, associations, individuals and organizations. I worked there twice during this time frame, having been hired back after a family-based hiatus. It was a great opportunity to grow as a young designer and it was where I began to network in the Frederick area.
