Product Designer
Bury, United Kingdom
Feb 2012 - Apr 2016 (4 years 2 months)
I have been designing cycling components, high powered cycling lights and lights for use in marine environments, as well as the packaging for these, during the past 4 years. I worked creatively within the team to come up with new and innovative ideas for bike components and lights. I worked on designs through the process from concept sketches through to CAD design and full production. I enjoy seeing a product created from initial conception to full production.
Representing the company at trade events and public exhibitions, both in the UK and Europe. For example I worked at Euro Bike trade show, communicating with current and prospective distributors to promote our products across the world. I also work at events USE sponsors, including Bontrager 24/12 a 24 hour endurance mountain bike race, where I supported the competitors and made sure USE's products were displayed and used throughout the event.
Working with other designers and production staff to ensure efficient manufacturing processes.
Managing the 3D printer to create one off prototype parts and also small manufacturing runs.
Provide technical support to clients - I communicate to a number of different retailers and the general public regarding any issues or questions they have with all products USE creates.
I worked closely with a variety of clients developing solutions for specific products they require.
I keep up to date with the latest technology, including new lens and LED development, making sure to communicate these with the rest of the team, which feeds into updating our products.
I have excellent time management skills shown through my ability to work on a number of different projects at one time, always meeting the deadlines set. I have developed within USE, building up from Design Assistant to Junior Designer and onto my current role as Product Designer.
