I am a passionate designer with a variety of specialties including lighting, sustainability and project management. I began my career working as a lighting designer and master electrician in the theater. When I began to transition my career I wanted to meld my experience in theatrical lighting with an education in interior architecture. I decided to return to school for my MFA in Interior Environments in order to combine my design experience in lighting and architecture into a career in architectural lighting. I hope to be NCIDQ certified by the end of 2014 and be challenged every day to learn and grow in the design field.
Currently, I am the Exhibition Lighting Designer/ Technician at the North Carolina Museum of Art, where I design, install and maintain all the exhibition lighting systems for the museum.
Along with my career in lighting design, I became very interested in sustainable design and passed the LEED exam in 2009. I hope to take my interests in sustainability and architectural lighting and create holistic design options for a greener world.
I am very active in the local chapter of the International Interior Design Association, for whom I am currently Co-City Center Director for the Triangle Chapter. I also am on the Illuminating Engineering Society’s Museum and Art Lighting Committee that is working on the IES Lighting Handbook for recommended practice.
