Artist Statement.... How I make art... Why I make art...
I see the intended meanings and ideas bursting out from among my pieces of art and wait with a mixture of excitement and anxiety for people to ask me about them. "What will they think?" "Will they understand my meaning?" "Do they have to understand my meaning?" "Will they be moved?" These are questions my mind asks while my soul creates.
Art is a personal journey for both the artist and the viewer. It can be both abstract and direct. I favor abstract and therefore tend to create pieces with statements of ambiguous meaning. I wish to create pieces that elicit a visual dialogue, an unspoken conversation with the viewer.
My pieces are diverse because they are a reflection of my views, ideas, and emotions at different periods in my life. They are a reflection of who I am in this world. I use what is inside of me to forge a personal connection with the viewer
