SQLite - Database assignment This was a quick assignment creating a database in SQLite to display information about a track of music as you would find in a media player (e.g., iTunes).
Gradebook Database Layout Visual layout for creating a database that acts as a gradebook. There was no right answer for this assignment, so we had to use our logic and creativity to come up with something that does the job.
SI 588 - Week 6 Exercise - 1 hour time limit This week’s exercise asks you to design an elegant but ultimately unusable universal remote control. The remote must control at least two systems (TV and DVR), but can be expanded to include lighting, thermostat, security systems, and more. My group's entry: A Translucent Cube Remote Control This is a cube for a TV, DVR, house lights, and Stereo. The cube's 6 faces are all digital and you can set the background, theme, or have it just emanate light. It can serve as a lit centerpiece for your room, and has the potential to be set to many colors. It is ultimately unusable due to the fact that there is poor visibility of information, poor affordance to indicate usability, no tactile feedback, poor concept/design arising from the fact you can only optimally see one face of the remote at a time.
SI 588 - Flashlight Website Design - 1 hour time limit My group's slightly humorous take on designing a flashlight website. For our class exercise we had looked at the Maglite and Coleman sites, and then noted the visceral, behavioral and reflective qualities of each. We then used those findings in consideration for our quick design.

SI 588 - Dell Website Redesign - 1 hour time limit Our class was given the task of assessing an interactive system, and then redesigning it in an hour. My group chose to redesign Dell's Inspiron 15R page to make it less cluttered and more user friendly.
