My name is Adam Volk and I write things for a living…
Back in another lifetime, I hustled my way into my first job with the publishing industry. I eventually edited numerous award-winning novels from New York Times best-selling authors, and wrote a ton of catalog and marketing copy.
Fast-forward to a few years later and I found myself in the digital trenches of the video game industry. I helped develop best-selling games for the PC, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii, and wrote cutting-edge interactive game scripts and marketing materials for publishers and clients such as Scholastic, Hasbro, Paramount Pictures, Electronic Arts, Microsoft and Disney.
Over the years I've also been employed as a freelance journalist, breaking stories and nailing deadlines for print and online publications, including Gamasutra, Paste Magazine, The New York Review of Science Fiction, The National Post and The Onion AV Club.
My true love, however, is copywriting. Today, I work in the Marketing Department at Corel, one of the largest software companies on the planet. I write print ads, web copy, videos, packaging and a wide variety of other dynamic and engaging content. I've also taken a lead role in developing company-wide creative strategy, helping to elevate award-winning global brands such as CorelDRAW, Painter, PaintShop Pro and VideoStudio.
I believe it's emotion that sells a product, not just features or flash. I also know that sometimes writing three words can be just as difficult as writing 3,000. I'm in the business of winning over clients, blowing minds and writing copy that gets results.
