ROV Launcher & Launch and Recovery System (LARS)

The launcher and LARS are feasibility and demonstrator projects respectively.
On the vessel you can see the ROV Launchers positioned at the centre overhanging the gunwales, and the LARS at the aft.

The launchers pneumatically propel the ROV out of the enclosure and into the water.

Skills used during this project:
- 3D Modelling (Solidworks).
- Knowledge of pneumatic system.
- Electrical wiring of actuators, sensors, servo, solenoid pneumatic valves and the on/off mechanism.
- C++ language for Arduino programming.
- Hand calculations and load testing.
- Hands-on assembly.
- Generating a test program.

The LARS is a system to launch and recovery the inspection ROV using a combination of actuators along with a winch and pulley system.
