Hermenegildo C. Mercado is a registered and licensed architect in the Philippines with an innate talent for creative design and a world-class experience to match. He was educated in the University of the Philippines, earning his degree in B.S. Architecture in 1981. Since elementary grade, he was consistently in the Honor Roll. He was a Salutatorian in High School. In college, he was an entrance scholar, a college scholar, an Architectural Center Club Inc. scholar, always excelling in his design subjects and awarded the Best Thesis with his two group mates. After working in the National Housing Authority as an Architect / Planner for five years, he went to work in Saudi Arabia and Singapore to gain world-class experience.
As an Architect, he worked in Saudi Arabia doing various landmark government projects the Al-Diwan Complex in Mena, The King Fahd Military Hospital, Saudi Binladen Corporate Office, Al Thowal Beach Palace, Mosques, and numerous villas for the Royal Family. Likewise in Singapore, he worked in Design International doing the Shelford Condominium.
After gaining a global perspective in design and extensive experience using cutting-edge CAD software for design and presentation, he returned to the Philippines to form his architectural firm called Arkicad Architectural Design.
He has been recognized by local government units working with Mayors and Governors in designing local government buildings. He is also a design consultant for government agencies and various developers and builders doing mixed-use projects. His designs are mostly green, self-sustaining, modern and innovative as can be seen in various projects he designed. His design portfolio includes eco-friendly hospitals, sports/ convention centers, institutional/government buildings, transport terminals, trade centers, mixed-use development projects, malls with condominiums, casinos, markets, schools, parks, commercial buildings, schools, residential / mass-housing projects, health care buildings and tensile fabric structures.
