Plant Lamp - Objective: to make a <mostly> paper table lamp. Paper is usually derived from trees. This fact led me to realize that ultra violet light helps plants grow and paper pulp can be made from dried plants. Non-vascular plants grow faster than trees and could create a more eco-friendly paper solution. Functionally: the natural rigidity of the paper allows the dark outer ring of leaves to function as a low tech dimmer. Based on their position the lamp gives off more or less light.
Tumble Stool - The Tumble Stool is designed for children ages 2.5 to 6 years of age. The stool can be rolled over to reveal two different sets of steps. There are also three ambiguous sides that could serve as miniature environments or landscapes allowing children to use their imaginations. The stool is made out of industrial felt and MDF board. The felt wears well and is soft to interact with. The support structures on the sides of the stool are made up of layers of felt and MDF.
Garden of Sculpture - Frankford's Garden of Sculpture was conceived as a community development project. Sponsored by Moore College of Art's smART Future's program the project was carried out by 23 high school students as part of their summer sculpture class taught by the project designer, Martha Zervoudis and directed by Pamela Feldman.
Alarm Clock Radio - The clock radio design inspired by my irritation to the number of ambiguous buttons on a the outside of the clock radio shell. The redesin allows the user to have a more direct interaction with the alarm clock radio.
