The principle of butterfly valve is that the disc is closed when the lever is closed and the water cannot flow through. It would be effective for the small amount of water and it can block the water flow in a short period. However, for a large amount of water, it would not be as effective as other valves.

It is made out of 8 parts and combined into one piece through assembly. The lever and the disc are mated together so it actually shows the open-close movement of the disc as the lever moves.
