Located in a rural city of Statesboro, Whispering Pines is one of many common townhomes built around the city. The renovation of the nearly 20-years old apartment complex was designed in respect to the design’s environmental context, maximizing its potential to serve as a design that will facilitate interaction between the inhabitants and the surrounding nature, the pine forest. Previously mundane and small walls and windows were replaced with open yet simple designs to receive maximal amount of natural light, and additional floor was added to create an open leisure space. The exterior was finished with a continuous patio that covers the entire home units as an attempt to facilitate strong community bonds among inhabitants.
