enreco
Enreco is a new pre-hospital cervical splint design under the November 2015 update to the New York State Spinal Injury Protocol. The New Spinal Injury Protocol eliminated the harmful long spine board and now only requires a cervical collar during emergency treatment, which may compromise the immobilization effect.
Enreco is updated to provide better results. To safely transfer the patient with traumatic head or neck to the emergency center, paramedics typically place the cervical collar, combined with a long spine board and head blocks, to stabilize neck vertebrae. Due to the negative outcomes of using the long board in the past, after 2015, the New Spinal Injury Protocol removed the long board and head blocks. However, there was no other change to the general procedure or the cervical collar design to achieve sufficient spinal immobilization. Enreco cervical splint integrated the supporting features from the eliminated long board and head blocks with the existing cervical collar.
