Kinetic Rack

The Kinetic Rack was originally designed for a Golden Triangle D.C. design competition. My theme for the project was to increase the user interaction with the bicycle rack. The rack was designed knowing that cycling is a quickly growing trend in the D.C. area. To design for this, the rack was made into modular units so that multiples may be seamlessly added together for high traffic areas. The rack was also designed so that the individual units may lie flat for storage and transport. With these traits in mind a series of curves were combined to guide the bike into the rack while allowing for it to fold flat and connect to itself infinite times.
