The client was a solar panel salesman, and so to maximize energy gains of his solar panels the house was angled so that the largest portion of the roof was facing due South, the pitch of the roof was set to 38 degrees exactly and the overall size of the roof increased as much as possible.
Due to the natural slope of the site, a split level design was chosen to allow for both a garage in the basement on the North side of the property as well as a walk-in main level on the South side.
A greenhouse was added to the South side of the house off of the kitchen to take advantage of the natural light.
