City of Helsinki Wholesale Food Market is an area consisting of active wholesale market and former abattoir transformed into restaurant and urban culture area. The signage system in area needed renewal from both drivers` and pedestrians` point of view.
The goal for new general signage plan was to clarify the signage system by defining a common scale, appearance, hierarchy and layout principles for signage in whole area.
We defined the current state of signage in area and designed new signage plan for motorists and pedestrians. Signage plan is based on distinct gateway pylons, information boards including map and signposts. The pedestrian walking routes are marked with asphalt paint in wholesale market area. Signage in wholesale market are colored green and signage in former abattoir (Teurastamo) area are colored red.
My role in project was signage design in cooperation with graphic designer. The work was ordered by Helsinki City Real estate bureau (Tilakeskus), 2017
